Belmont Historical Home

The mission of the Belmont Historical Society is to preserve the past history of Belmont through the collection and story of artifacts, and oral histories from long time residents who lived their lives in Belmont. Documentation of events, pictorial records of progress, and any other representative means of saving the past is utilized to provide an understanding of our rich heritage for the descendants of  early settlers  as  well as for the new people of  the area.  This center of Belmont’s history provides a learning opportunity for any who enter its door as the displays are not permanent and are changed for different cultural events. There are visual, audio, and reference libraries plus other disciplines to peak the interest of a person with any level of education or historical curiosity.

Outside the yard and grounds reflect the history of the mill era of Belmont in that the gardens are symbolic of the different villages.  The mill house presently in the process of restoration is a vital component of the life in Belmont in the 1930’s.

Its finish will depict the life of a family on a mill village of which so many residents of the area were a part.

The kitchen in back of the house, awaiting restoration is typical of the lifestyle when the cooking for the family took place in another building other than the main house.

As we say, our mission is to “Preserve the Past for the Sake of the Future.”
